2/8/1908The U.S. War Department accepts the Wright Brother's bid of $25,000 to furnish one heavier-than-air flying machine within 200 days. The machine is to carry 2 men, fly at a speed of 40 miles per hour, and weigh approxiamately 1,200 pounds. The formal contract is signed soon after specifying delivery of the airplane by August 28. Additional bids by J.F. Scott and A.M.
